Munchables Tire Sensory Chew Necklace

Another Munchable item, this time the tire necklace that is also listed with the dog tags I mentioned in the previous blog post. This is a great alternative if your child likes to chew on tires, like mine does. He liked this version a lot more than the dog tags, and used it more than it too. Also made with silicone, these tire chewies will help children regulate their sensory issues better and safer than chewing on their hands or fingers. The tire is bigger than a hot wheels tire, but that is just what my son needed. He used this one much longer than the dog tags and more often as well. He liked it a lot and I definitely recommend it.

No nasty plastic or chemical smell, so you know it is safe for your children to chew on. The tire has treads just like a real tire, so you can feel the bumps on it while holding or chewing on it with your tongue. The clasp is also not chewable but my son has on occasion chewed on it as well. We just redirect him to chewing back on the tire and he is fine with that. Munchables has a variety of other designs other than the dog tags and tires, they show other options on the bottom of the product's page.

These chewies are recommended by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists to help your child stop chewing on non-chewable items, such as clothing, fingers, hands, nails, etc. They are great for kids above the age of 3 but always keep in mind you should watch how they chew them for the first few tries to make sure they do not go for the clasp. If they do, just redirect them and keep an eye on them when they are chewing the chewies. I would rate this a 9/10 because of the clasp being a slight distraction, however definitely give it a try for your kiddo.
